How to Craft Gears, Plates, and Rods from Metal Ingots

The Three Component Types

All The Ores adds three shaped metal components for most of its metals: gears, plates, and rods. These are not made in a normal crafting table by hand — they require the appropriate tool or machine from a tech mod that the pack integrates with. In most packs this means a metal former, a rolling machine, or a hammer-based crafting step.

Making Plates and Rods

Plates are typically produced by pressing or rolling an ingot. Rods are usually made by cutting or extruding an ingot, often yielding more than one rod per ingot. If your pack includes a hand tool like an ore hammer, you can sometimes flatten ingots into plates manually before you have machines. Check your recipe viewer (JEI or REI) and search the ingot name — the viewer will show every valid recipe across all installed mods.

Making Gears

Gears are the most expensive of the three, usually consuming several ingots or a plate plus rods. They are the backbone of machine frames and mechanical components in tech mods. Because gear recipes vary by pack, always confirm the exact shape in your recipe viewer rather than assuming a vanilla-style layout. Batch-craft gears whenever you have spare ingots — you will always need more.
