How to Use the Alagard Font on Signs and Written Books Without Losing Readability
Signs and written books are where a decorative font shows up most, because you control the text and other players have to read it. A little planning keeps your builds looking good and staying legible.
Keep Sign Text Short
Alagard's letterforms are wider and more ornate than the default font, so fewer characters fit on a sign line before text wraps or gets cut off. Write short labels, use one or two words per line, and put longer descriptions in a written book instead. Test each sign in place rather than assuming it fits.
Use Capitalization Sparingly
All-caps text in a decorative font becomes a solid block of ornamentation and is harder to scan. Mixed case reads better. Reserve capitals for the first letter of a name or a single emphasized word.
Written Books and Chat
Written books and chat use the same font, so the same rules apply. Break long paragraphs into shorter lines, and avoid dense walls of text in chat. If you run a server, remember every player sees your signs in whatever font they have enabled, so do not rely on the font itself to convey meaning.
