Alagard Font Resource Pack FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn the Alagard font back to the normal Minecraft font?
Open Options, then Resource Packs, and move the Alagard pack from the Selected list back to the Available list. The default font returns immediately, no restart needed.
Why do some letters look like boxes or missing glyphs with this font?
Alagard only covers the characters its glyph sheet includes, so symbols, emoji, and non-Latin scripts fall back to blank boxes. Switch to the default font when you need those characters, or avoid them in signs and books.
Does the Alagard font work on servers or only in singleplayer?
It works anywhere the resource pack is loaded, including multiplayer, because it only changes client-side rendering. Other players will still see the default font unless they also have the pack enabled.
Can I use the Alagard font together with a shader pack?
Yes, shaders and font packs affect different parts of rendering and don't conflict. If text looks odd after adding shaders, check that the font pack is still in the Selected list, since some launchers reorder packs.
Why does the font look blurry or pixelated on my screen?
Alagard is a bitmap-style font, so it renders sharpest at the GUI scale it was designed for. Try adjusting GUI Scale in Video Settings up or down one step until the letters look crisp.
Does the Alagard font change the font in the main menu and loading screens?
Yes, it replaces the font everywhere the game uses the default font, including menus, chat, tooltips, and the HUD. If the menu still looks default, the pack likely isn't actually enabled.
Will the Alagard font break my other resource packs?
It only overrides font files, so packs that change textures, sounds, or models are unaffected. If two packs both change fonts, the one higher in the Selected list wins.
How do I make the Alagard font bigger without changing my whole GUI scale?
You can't resize just the font through the pack itself, since it's tied to GUI Scale. Raising GUI Scale enlarges the text but also enlarges every other interface element.
Why do numbers and punctuation look different from the letters?
Alagard's glyph set styles letters and digits separately, so numbers and symbols can have a different weight or shape than the alphabet. This is normal for the font and not a broken install.
Does the Alagard font affect performance or FPS?
No, swapping a bitmap font has negligible impact on performance because it's just a texture replacement. Any FPS drop after installing it is almost always caused by another pack or mod loaded at the same time.
