How to Make the Alagard Font Readable at Small GUI Scales
The Alagard font is decorative, and its thinner strokes can look cramped when your GUI Scale is set low. If text feels hard to read, the fix is usually display settings rather than the pack itself.
Adjust GUI Scale First
Open Options, then Video Settings, and raise GUI Scale one step at a time. Larger GUI scale means bigger text, which suits a medieval-style font far better than the smallest setting. Test by opening your inventory and reading item tooltips, since tooltips use the same font as everything else.
Check Other Text-Heavy Screens
Some screens are harder to read than others. Open a written book, a sign, or the chat window and compare. If chat is fine but tooltips are not, the issue is usually the tooltip background contrast rather than the font. If everything is equally hard to read, go back and raise GUI Scale again.
When to Accept the Tradeoff
Alagard is a stylistic font, not an accessibility font. If you cannot find a GUI Scale that works for you, that is a normal outcome, and the alternative is simply to disable the resource pack when you need maximum legibility. Many players keep it enabled for normal play and turn it off only for reading long in-game text.
