Sync Leaderboards Across Servers With MySQL
If you run a network or several servers, MySQL storage keeps every server showing the same rankings instead of each one keeping its own local data.
Setting up MySQL
1. Create an empty database and a user with permission to use it on your MySQL server.
2. Stop the server, or be ready to reload, and open the plugin's config.yml.
3. Find the storage or database section and switch the storage method to MySQL.
4. Fill in the host, port, database name, username and password.
5. Restart the server and check the console for a successful connection message.
6. Repeat the same settings on every server that should share the boards.
If you already have data stored locally, look in the help or config for an export/import option so you can move your existing boards to MySQL. Back up first.
Making the shared boards useful
- Use the same board placeholders on every server, otherwise the rankings will not line up.
- To show player prefixes or suffixes, use the prefix or suffix placeholder types next to the name. The permissions plugin supplying them must be installed on the server that displays them.
- "Extra" placeholders let you show another value beside each entry, such as a player's rank or level next to their score.
Troubleshooting
- Connection errors usually mean wrong credentials or a firewall blocking the database port.
- If rankings look different between servers, confirm every server uses MySQL and not local storage.
