Aj Leaderboards Plugin FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I make my first leaderboard?
Pick a numeric PlaceholderAPI placeholder, such as a statistic or balance, and use it in the plugin's leaderboard placeholder format (position, then name or value). The plugin starts tracking it the first time it's requested, so use it once, then wait for the board to update.
Why does my leaderboard placeholder show nothing or a blank/loading value?
The board has probably just been created and hasn't been filled yet, so give it a little time to refresh. Also check that the PlaceholderAPI expansion for the underlying placeholder is installed and that the placeholder returns a plain number when you test it with /papi parse.
Can I make a leaderboard out of any plugin's stat?
Almost any, as long as the stat is exposed as a PlaceholderAPI placeholder that returns a number. Text-only placeholders like ranks or world names can't be ranked, though you can show them as extra placeholders next to an entry.
Why are some players missing from my top list?
The plugin can only rank players whose values it has recorded. Players who haven't joined since the board was created may not appear until they log in and the plugin reads their value.
How do I show player heads on top signs?
Place a sign, set it up with the plugin's sign-creation command for the board and position you want, and put the head block above the sign. The head follows whoever holds that position. Armor stands can display heads too.
How do I make a daily, weekly, or monthly leaderboard?
Add the timed type (hourly, daily, monthly and so on) to the end of the leaderboard placeholder. The board then ranks only the gain within that period and resets when the period rolls over.
The leaderboard isn't updating instantly. Is it broken?
No, boards refresh on an interval rather than live, to keep server load down. Use the plugin's reload command after changing the config. If you need faster updates, check the update-related settings in the config.
How do I keep leaderboards the same across multiple servers?
Enable MySQL in the plugin's config on every server and point them all at the same database. The servers then share one set of data instead of each keeping its own local copy.
Can I show prefixes, suffixes or extra info beside each name?
Yes. The placeholder format has options for a player's prefix, suffix and display name, which come from your permissions or chat plugin through Vault or PlaceholderAPI. Extra placeholders let you show additional values, like playtime next to a kills board.
Will lots of leaderboards lag my server?
Each tracked placeholder adds work, so only create the boards you actually display. Using MySQL and keeping signs and holograms to a sensible number also helps, and slow placeholders from other plugins will slow the board down too.
