Using an AE2 Wireless Terminal in the Nether or End

The problem

By default, an AE2 wireless terminal only works in the same dimension as the ME network it is bound to. Step into a Nether portal and the terminal goes dead — you cannot pull items out of your storage or dump your inventory into the system while mining in the Nether or exploring the End.

The fix

The Dimension Card is the item that bridges dimensions. Install it in the wireless terminal you carry with you.

Step by step

1. Make sure your ME network back home is running and chunk-loaded. A chunk loader or a always-loaded chunk around the controller is required, otherwise the network effectively does not exist while you are away.

2. Craft the Dimension Card.

3. Open your wireless terminal and put the Dimension Card into an upgrade slot.

4. Optionally also install the Infinity Range Booster so you are not limited by distance once you are back in the Overworld.

5. Enter the Nether or the End and open the terminal. Your stored items should appear as normal.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting to chunk-load the base. This is the number one reason a Dimension Card "does not work."
  • Installing the card in the wrong slot, or in a different terminal than the one you are carrying.
  • Expecting the card to also boost range — it does not. Use the Infinity Range Booster for that.
