How to Use AE2 Extras Portable Cells for On-the-Go Storage
What Portable Cells Do
Portable Item Cells and Portable Fluid Cells from AE2 Extras act like a backpack tied to your ME network. You can carry them in your inventory, fill them from your network, and later dump their contents back — perfect for mining trips or exploring far from base.
Setting Up a Portable Cell
1. Craft a Portable Item Cell or Portable Fluid Cell at the tier you can afford.
2. Place it in your inventory and right-click to open its interface.
3. With the cell in your hand, shift-right-click or use the interface buttons to pull items/fluids from a connected ME network, or push contents back.
4. Use the cell's own storage view to withdraw specific stacks while away from base.
Best Practices
- Charge the cell's internal energy if the tier requires it; a drained cell won't transfer.
- Partition the cell first if you only want it to accept certain items, so it doesn't fill with junk.
- Pair a Portable Item Cell with a Portable Fluid Cell for long expeditions — one for loot, one for lava or water.
- Remember Mono portable variants exist if you want a dedicated bulk carrier for a single resource.
