Advanced XRay Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the advanced xray menu?
Press the mod's configured keybind (check your Controls settings under the Advanced XRay category) to open the block selection GUI. If nothing happens, the keybind may conflict with another mod, so rebind it in Controls.
How do I turn xray on and off?
Use the toggle keybind to switch the highlight overlay on and off without closing the game. You can also disable it from within the mod's GUI if you prefer clicking over hotkeys.
Why can I only see some ores and not others?
Only blocks you've added to the active list get highlighted, so open the GUI and enable or add the ores you're looking for. Ores from other mods won't appear until you manually add them.
How do I add a new block to the xray list?
Open the GUI, use the searchable block list to find the block, and add it to your active list. Once added, it will be highlighted whenever XRay is enabled.
How do I add ores from other mods?
In the GUI's searchable list, modded blocks appear alongside vanilla ones as long as the mod is installed and loaded. Search for the ore by name and add it like any vanilla block.
How do I change the distance that ores show up?
The GUI has a distance or range setting that controls how far away blocks are highlighted. Lower it to reduce lag and visual clutter, raise it to spot ores farther out.
Why is xray so laggy?
A large search distance means the mod scans many more blocks each tick, which hurts performance. Reduce the range and trim your active block list to only the ores you actually need.
Can I change the color of the highlighted blocks?
Yes, the GUI includes a full RGB color selector so you can assign a distinct color to each block. This helps you tell ores apart at a glance when several are highlighted at once.
Will I get banned for using this on a server?
Many servers consider XRay cheating and will ban you if detected, so only use it in singleplayer or on servers where you have explicit permission. The mod highlights blocks rather than removing them, but that doesn't make it allowed on public servers.
Does advanced xray work with other mods and modpacks?
It's built on Forge and works alongside other Forge mods, including ones that add new ores you can add to the list. Very large modpacks may need a lower search distance to keep performance stable.
