Adjust Water Reflection Quality and Clarity
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually Right Shift or as configured in your controls). Navigate to the Water or Reflections section.
Fine-Tune Reflection Parameters
Look for settings controlling:
- Reflection Strength: Increases or decreases how mirror-like water surfaces appear
- Reflection Distance: Controls how far the shader renders reflections (higher values are more demanding)
- Water Clarity: Adjusts transparency and how deep you can see into water blocks
- Ripple/Wave Detail: Controls surface distortion intensity
Apply and Test
Save your changes and observe water in different lighting conditions—near sunlight, under shadows, and at different times of day. Reflections should feel natural without appearing too glossy or completely flat. If performance drops, reduce reflection distance or strength incrementally until you find a balance between visuals and frame rate.
Performance Tip
If reflections cause stuttering, disable reflections for moving entities (mobs, players) while keeping them for static blocks and terrain.
