Check and change a new attribute on yourself with commands

The quickest way to see what one of the added attributes does is to change it on yourself with the vanilla /attribute command. The mod adds no items or blocks of its own, so commands are the easiest way to test it.

Find the attribute

1. Open chat and type /attribute @s and press Tab.

2. Type part of a name, such as water, lava, jump, lung or scale. The added attributes appear in the suggestion list under the mod's namespace.

3. Select one from the list. Don't type the ID from memory, because the exact spelling is easier to get right from the suggestions.

Read and set values

  • Read the current value: /attribute @s <attribute> get
  • Read the unmodified starting value: /attribute @s <attribute> base get
  • Change it: /attribute @s <attribute> base set <number>

Run get before you change anything and note the number, so you can put it back later. To reset, run base set with that original number.

Tips

  • Change one attribute at a time and test it, for example by jumping, swimming or wading through lava with fire resistance.
  • Use a selector like @e[type=zombie,limit=1,sort=nearest] in place of @s to try the attribute on a mob.
  • Very large or very small values can make movement or size behave strangely. Start with small changes.
  • Base values set by command may not persist for every attribute in every situation. If something resets after you die or relog, set it again.
