Make a tool or armor piece truly unbreakable with an anvil
With the mod installed, any item carrying the Unbreaking enchantment stops losing durability. The easiest way to apply it to gear you already own is an anvil and an Unbreaking enchanted book.
What you need
- The tool, weapon or armor piece you want to protect
- An enchanted book with Unbreaking
- An anvil and enough experience levels to pay the cost
Steps
1. Place the anvil and open it.
2. Put the item you want to protect in the left slot.
3. Put the Unbreaking book in the right slot.
4. Check the result slot. The item should show Unbreaking in its tooltip.
5. Take the result. If you lack the levels, the cost shows in red and you will need more experience first.
Tips
- If the item already has other enchantments, they stay. Only conflicting ones are affected, and vanilla anvil rules still decide that.
- Do this early on your best pickaxe, sword and armor, since they stop wearing down once enchanted.
- If the item is already damaged, the anvil does not repair it just because you added Unbreaking. Repair it separately if you want the bar full. From then on it will not drop further.
- You can also put Unbreaking on an item at an enchanting table if it rolls the enchantment.
