Abandoned Watchtowers Data Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I find a watchtower?
Watchtowers spawn naturally in forests, flower forests, birch forests, taigas, and plains biomes. At night, look for glowing lights on tall structures in the distance—these are the easiest way to spot them from far away. During the day, scan the horizon for tall ruined towers with vines covering them.
Do watchtowers spawn in every biome?
No, watchtowers only generate in normal forests, flower forests, birch forests, taigas, and plains. They will not appear in deserts, jungles, mountains, or other biome types.
What loot can I find in watchtower chests?
Chests inside watchtowers contain random items that vary between towers. The exact loot pool depends on the data pack configuration, so different towers may have different rewards worth collecting.
Are there different types of watchtowers?
Yes, there are two different tower types in the data pack. One type is much rarer and harder to find than the other, so keep exploring if you want to discover both variants.
Can I use a watchtower as a base?
Yes, watchtowers work well as bases or waypoints. Many towers contain multi-bed rooms where you and friends can sleep, and the tall structure gives you a good vantage point for navigation and defense.
How many different rooms can spawn inside a tower?
Watchtowers can generate up to seven different types of rooms, and the layout is randomized each time you find a new tower. This means every tower has a unique interior layout to explore.
Why can't I find any watchtowers?
Make sure you're exploring the correct biomes: forests, flower forests, birch forests, taigas, or plains. If you're in the right biome, try traveling further—towers are randomly placed, so you may need to walk a significant distance to find one.
Do watchtowers have beds?
Some watchtowers contain special rooms with up to four beds, making them useful for multiplayer bases. Not every tower will have beds, so you may need to explore multiple towers to find one with sleeping areas.
Will this data pack cause lag or performance issues?
The data pack generates structures passively as you explore, so performance impact should be minimal on most systems. If you experience lag, try reducing your render distance or exploring fewer biomes at once.
Can I use this data pack with other mods or data packs?
This data pack should work with most other content, but conflicts can occur if multiple packs try to generate structures in the same biomes. Test it with your other mods and data packs to ensure compatibility.
