How to Replace Vanilla Lightning with a Custom Effekseer Effect

Why Replace the Default

Out of the box, AAA Particles Mod already swaps vanilla lightning for its own Effekseer effect. If you want a different look — a different color, a smaller bolt, a themed strike for a modpack — you replace that effect file with your own rather than editing code.

Replacing the Effect

1. Locate the mod's default lightning effect inside its assets (or the resource pack that provides it).

2. Create your own Effekseer effect that you want to appear when lightning strikes.

3. Put your effect in a resource pack using the same asset path the mod reads for lightning, so it overrides the default.

4. Keep texture filenames unchanged — the mod's whole point is that you do not rename them.

5. Load the pack above the mod in your resource pack list so it takes priority.

Verifying the Swap

Trigger a lightning strike in a thunderstorm and confirm your effect plays instead of the default. If the vanilla bolt still shows, another pack or mod is winning the override — move your pack higher. Remember this is purely visual and client-side: other players see their own version unless they install the same pack.
