Troubleshooting: stairs still craft in batches of 4

If you follow the stair shape and still get 4 stairs, work through these checks.

Check the recipe

1. Make sure you use the full stair shape of 6 blocks in a 3x3 grid, not a partial layout.

2. Use one block type only. Mixed blocks will not craft stairs.

3. Try a plain block type, such as stone or planks, to see whether the pack works at all.

Check the pack and other sources

  • Run /datapack list and confirm the pack is enabled. Run /reload after any change.
  • If one block type still gives 4, that stair may not be covered by the pack. This is common with stairs added by other mods. Craft a different vanilla stair to compare.
  • Another data pack could override the recipe. Change the pack order, or temporarily disable the other pack to test.
  • Recipe book results come from the same recipes, so if the book shows the wrong count, reload the world and check again.
  • A stonecutter is a separate recipe from the crafting table. Don't judge the pack by the stonecutter's output, and test it at a crafting table.
