3D Items Vanillaism FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Why do my items look flat in my inventory but 3D on the ground?
This is intentional design. The resource pack keeps items as flat 2D sprites in inventory menus for clarity and performance, but renders them as full 3D models when dropped in the world or held in your hand.
Do all items get the 3D treatment or just some?
Most items are converted to 3D models, but not every single item in the game receives one. The pack prioritizes common items, tools, food, gems, ores, and decorative blocks, while some niche items may remain 2D.
Will this resource pack work with my shader mod?
Yes, 3D Items Vanillaism is compatible with most shader mods since it only changes item models and textures, not rendering mechanics. Load it alongside your shader without conflicts.
My game is lagging after installing this. How do I fix it?
3D models use more resources than flat sprites. Try reducing your render distance, lowering entity render distance in video settings, or disabling the pack in areas with many dropped items. Check the performance optimization guide for more detailed solutions.
Can I see 3D items in item frames on walls?
Yes. Item frames display the 3D models of their contents, making decorative walls and displays look much more detailed and visually interesting.
Do 3D items appear the same way for other players on my server?
Only if they also have the resource pack installed. Other players without it will see items normally. The pack is client-side only and doesn't affect gameplay or multiplayer compatibility.
Why do some 3D items look different from the original pixel art?
The pack is designed to keep the original pixel art colors and shapes, but converting 2D art to 3D sometimes requires interpretation. The creator maintains vanilla style while adding depth.
Do held items in my hand look 3D too?
Yes. When you hold an item in your hand or see another player holding one, it displays as a 3D model if the pack includes it.
Will this pack work with other resource packs?
It depends on load order and what the other pack modifies. If another pack also changes item models, they may conflict. Load 3D Items Vanillaism lower in your pack list to give it priority, or use only one item-focused pack.
How do I know which items have 3D models and which don't?
Drop items in your world and observe them. Items with 3D models will appear noticeably more detailed and dimensional compared to flat ones. The screenshots on the wiki show many examples of what 3D items look like.
