0Pack2Reload Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
What does 0Pack2Reload actually do?
It stops the game from reloading your resource packs when you open the resource pack screen and leave without changing anything. The long loading screen only happens when you really moved or toggled a pack.
How do I get into the resource pack screen?
Open the game Options menu and choose Resource Packs. The mod works automatically from there, so you don't need to turn anything on.
Why doesn't my game reload when I click Done without changes?
That is the mod working as intended. It compares your pack setup with what it was when you opened the screen, and if nothing changed it skips the reload.
Where is the Cancel button on the resource pack screen?
The mod adds a Cancel button to the resource pack screen on the versions that support it. Click it to close the screen directly without applying anything. It is not present on the 1.21.1 game version, because the menu works differently there.
Why can't I see a Cancel button?
On the 1.21.1 game version the mod does not add that button. You can still press Esc or click Done, and the reload is still skipped if you changed nothing.
Will my changes be saved if I click Cancel?
Cancel is meant for leaving the screen without making changes, so don't rely on it to apply a new pack order. To apply changes, use Done and let the reload run.
How can I tell if the no-reload behavior is working?
Open the resource pack screen, change nothing, and click Done or press Esc. If you go straight back with no loading screen, it's working. Then move or toggle a pack and click Done. A reload should now happen.
Why did the game still reload when I opened and closed the menu?
You probably changed something, even briefly. Moving a pack, enabling or disabling it, or reordering it counts as a change, and the reload then runs as normal. Putting a pack back where it was may or may not count as a change depending on how the screen tracks it, so check for a loading screen.
Does this help in big modpacks?
Yes. Reloads take the longest when many mods add their own resources, so skipping an unneeded reload saves the most time there. Menu visits that change nothing become nearly instant.
Does it stop reloads when I actually change packs?
No. When you apply a real change, the game still reloads so the new packs take effect. The mod only removes the pointless reloads.
