How to Find Flame Outposts and Survive Their Loot
Finding a Flame Outpost
Flame Outposts generate on sandy terrain, often perched on top of dunes, which makes them visible from a distance as a small structure against the sky. Because they sit on high ground, the best way to find one is to travel along dune ridges and look for a built structure where there should only be sand. They are rarer than ruins, so treat a sighting as a detour worth taking.
Approaching Safely
An outpost is a compact, defended-looking structure rather than an open ruin. Before you walk in:
- Circle it once to find the entrance and check for hazards around the base.
- Light up the interior as you go so you do not get ambushed in the dark.
- Keep a water bucket or blocks ready in case the floor has gaps or the structure sits over a drop.
Looting and Leaving
Clear the interior room by room, opening every container and checking under and behind furniture-style blocks. Once cleared, decide whether to keep it: a Flame Outpost on a dune makes an excellent forward base, since it is elevated, visible, and already enclosed. Place a bed, a chest, and a crafting station, and use it as a rest stop between desert expeditions.
