YUNG’s Extras Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I find structures from this mod?
Just explore normally — structures generate in the world like vanilla ones, so use a map mod, the locate command for the structure's ID, or simply travel through deserts, badlands, and plains biomes until you spot one.
Do I need to start a new world for the structures to appear?
Yes for already-generated chunks, since structures only generate in newly generated terrain. Unexplored areas of an existing world will still spawn them, so you can just travel beyond where you've already been.
Is this mod client-side or server-side?
It's designed as a server-side vanilla+ mod, meaning it works when installed on the server and vanilla clients can connect without it. Installing it on both sides is still fine and gives the best experience.
Do I need any other mods to run this?
No, it's standalone and doesn't require a library or dependency mod. Just make sure you're using the correct mod loader version for your game.
Why can't I find any Desert Ruins or Flame Outposts?
These structures are biome-specific and often rare, so you may need to travel a long distance or explore multiple desert, badlands, and savanna biomes. Using the locate command with the structure's ID is the fastest way to confirm they exist in your world.
Are the structures rare? How rare are they?
Most structures like Ruins, Desert Wells, and Obelisks are fairly common in their biomes, while the easter egg structures are intentionally very rare. Rarity varies by structure, so don't expect to find the secret ones quickly.
Can I disable specific structures or change their spawn rates?
Structure spawning is controlled through the mod's config files, where you can typically toggle individual structures on or off. Check the config folder after first launch to see the available options.
Does this mod work with other structure mods like YUNG's Better structures or BYG?
Yes, it's built to be compatible with other structure and biome mods, and it even has biome-specific variants that appear in modded biomes like BYG's Mojave Desert. Conflicts are rare, but if two mods place structures in the same spot you may see overlapping generation.
Will this mod cause lag or hurt performance?
Structure generation has minimal impact on performance since it only runs during world generation, not every tick. If you're running many structure mods together, world generation may slow down slightly, but normal gameplay is unaffected.
Is the loot in these structures worth it, and is it dangerous?
Loot varies by structure — Desert Ruins and Flame Outposts tend to have the best rewards, while Wells and Obelisks are more about exploration. Some structures contain hostile mobs or traps, so bring gear and light before looting.
