Navigate the Nether Safely

Ancient debris is rare and only spawns in the Nether between Y-levels 8 and 22. Bring fire resistance potions, a diamond or netherite pickaxe, and plenty of blocks for building safe paths. The XRAYVision pack makes netherrack transparent while keeping ancient debris visible.

Search at the Right Depth

Use a nether portal to enter, then dig or navigate to the correct Y-level. Once positioned, look around—ancient debris appears as tan or brown blocks standing out against the invisible netherrack backdrop.

Mine Carefully

Ancient debris requires a diamond or netherite pickaxe to harvest. When you spot a block, carefully approach it while watching for lava pockets and hostile mobs. The transparent terrain means you can see hazards like lava pools from farther away, giving you time to prepare.

Collect Efficiently

Ancient debris is valuable for crafting netherite gear, so take your time to gather multiple pieces. The visibility advantage means you can explore larger areas of the Nether without getting lost, increasing your chances of finding several blocks in one trip.
