Locating Underground Structures and Dungeons

Understand What You're Looking For

Underground structures like dungeons, mineshafts, and strongholds have distinct block patterns—mossy stone, wooden supports, or dark stone bricks—that stand out against the transparent terrain. The XRAYVision pack keeps these blocks visible while hiding natural stone.

Explore Caves Systematically

Head into cave systems and move through them slowly. With the ground made transparent, you can see the internal layout of caverns and spot artificial structures that would normally be hidden. Look for geometric patterns or unusual block arrangements that indicate player-made or generated structures.

Watch for Telltale Signs

Dungeons often appear as small enclosed rooms with visible spawners. Mineshafts show wooden support beams and railings. Strongholds display distinctive purple-tinted blocks and archways. These features become obvious when surrounded by invisible stone.

Mark Discoveries

When you find a structure, place torches or markers to remember its location. You can return with better equipment or prepare for the dangers inside. The transparency makes it easy to map out multiple structures in one exploration session.
