Avoiding Lava and Hazards While Mining
Identify Danger Zones
With XRAYVision, lava pockets become visible through transparent stone as bright orange or red areas. This is your main advantage—you can see hazards before you dig into them. Scan your surroundings constantly as you move underground.
Plan Safe Routes
When you spot lava, plan your mining route to avoid it. If you must pass near lava, build a protective barrier of blocks between yourself and the hazard. The transparency lets you see exactly where the lava sits, so you can calculate safe distances.
Watch for Water Too
While less dangerous than lava, water can still slow you down or cause problems if you're carrying valuable items. You'll see water as blue areas in the transparent terrain. Avoid mining directly into water pockets.
Stay Alert Underground
Even with visibility, caves can hide mobs in shadows or around corners. Keep your render distance reasonable so you don't get overwhelmed by what you see. Light up areas as you go, and don't rely solely on XRAYVision—use torches and normal awareness to stay safe while mining.
