How to AFK Fish on a Multiplayer Server with XPlus Autofish

Prepare the Setup

Stand at a safe fishing spot with water in front of you and no mobs nearby. Put several fishing rods in your hotbar, with your best enchanted rod first. Open the config with the hotkey and enable autofish, MultiRod, break protection, and Persistent mode. Switch detection to sound-based, since motion detection is unreliable on servers.

Tune for Server Lag

Set the recast delay a little higher than you would in singleplayer and add randomness so the timing is not perfectly regular. Persistent mode keeps the line cast even if a bite is missed, which is important on laggy servers where the bite sound may arrive late. If the server has anti-AFK plugins, note that autofish only automates the fishing action, not movement, so you may still be kicked for standing still.

Stay Safe While AFK

Do not AFK in dangerous areas such as near water with drowned, in the Nether, or anywhere hostile mobs can reach you. Build a small enclosure or fish from a safe platform. Keep an eye on your rod durability through MultiRod and break protection, and check back periodically to repair or replace rods. If fishing stops, verify that at least one usable rod remains in the hotbar.
