How to Prevent Missing Chunks on the Map During Fast Travel
The Missing Chunks Problem
When you travel fast — elytra, boats on ice, or high-speed highways — the world map can fail to record every chunk you pass through. You end up with holes or gaps in your map that you have to fly back over. This happens because the map's region saving can't keep up with how quickly new chunks are being loaded and unloaded.
Using Fast Region Saving
XaeroPlus adds a fast map region saving mode designed exactly for this. Open the XaeroPlus settings and enable the fast saving option. With it on, the mod writes region data more aggressively so chunks are captured before they unload, even at very high travel speeds.
After enabling it, do a test run along a route you know is fast — a nether highway or an overworld ice road — and then open the world map to check for gaps. If you still see holes, make sure you aren't running other mods that aggressively unload chunks, and confirm the fast saving toggle actually saved (some settings require reopening the map or the settings screen to apply).
Multiple Instances
If you run several Minecraft instances at once (common for alt accounts or scouting), XaeroPlus lets them read and write the same map data simultaneously. This means chunks mapped by one instance show up for the others without corrupting the region files. Keep all instances pointed at the same map directory and avoid force-closing them mid-save.
