How to Boost FPS with XaeroPlus Minimap Performance Settings

Why the Minimap Costs FPS

Xaero's Minimap redraws terrain, entities, and waypoints every frame by default. On anarchy servers with heavy entity counts and constant chunk loading, this can eat a noticeable slice of your framerate. XaeroPlus fixes this by decoupling minimap rendering from the main game framerate, so the minimap only refreshes at a rate you choose.

Adjusting the Render Rate

Open the XaeroPlus settings from the Xaero minimap or world map settings menu (look for the XaeroPlus tab or button). Find the minimap framerate or render rate option. Lowering this value means the minimap updates less often, which frees up rendering time for the main view. A moderate value keeps the map readable while still giving a large FPS gain; pushing it very low makes the minimap feel choppy but maximizes performance.

Test in a busy area — near spawn, a large base, or during heavy travel — and watch your FPS counter while you change the value. Combine this with the transparent background option so unused black space isn't being drawn. If you use Better PVP instead of Xaero's Minimap, the same performance benefit applies since XaeroPlus hooks into the underlying map rendering.

Related Optimizations

XaeroPlus also keeps world rendering active in the background while Xaero GUIs are open, so opening the full map no longer freezes the world behind it. Leave that enabled unless you specifically want the world to pause.
