Making the X Crosshair More Visible Without Changing Packs

If the X is hard to see against bright blocks, snow, or the sky, you have a few in-game levers before you touch any files.

Adjust what the game gives you

  • Turn off the attack indicator in Options > Video Settings if the cooldown bar is cluttering the center of your screen.
  • Lower your GUI scale so the crosshair sits at a cleaner pixel size; a smaller scale often makes a thin X read more sharply.
  • Reduce brightness slightly if you play in bright biomes, since a dimmer background makes a light-colored X pop.
  • If you use a shader or a HUD mod, check whether it draws its own crosshair on top of the pack's X. Two overlapping crosshairs look muddy, so disable one.

Edit the texture for contrast

Open the pack's crosshair texture and add a thin dark outline around the X, or switch the X to pure white with a one-pixel black border. This keeps the shape identical while making it legible on sand, snow, and clouds. Save, then press F3+T to reload.

Test in a creative world against several backgrounds before using it in a real match.
