How to Change the Crosshair Color in the X Crosshair Shape Resource Pack

The X shape itself is fixed by the pack, but the color of the X is controlled by the crosshair texture inside the pack, so you can recolor it without breaking anything.

Locate the crosshair texture

Open the resource pack folder and navigate into assets/minecraft/textures/gui/. The file you want is icons.png in older-style packs, or a dedicated crosshair.png in newer pack layouts. If you only see icons.png, the crosshair is a small region in the top-left corner of that sheet.

Recolor and reload

1. Copy the file somewhere safe as a backup before editing.

2. Open it in any image editor that supports transparency (Paint.NET, GIMP, Photoshop, or even a pixel editor).

3. Select only the crosshair pixels and fill them with your chosen color. Keep the surrounding pixels fully transparent so nothing else in the HUD changes.

4. Save as PNG, overwriting the original in the pack folder.

5. In Minecraft, press F3+T to reload resources, or toggle the pack off and on in Options > Resource Packs.

If the X disappears after editing, you likely flattened the alpha channel. Undo, restore the backup, and make sure transparency is preserved on export.
