Enhance water appearance with realistic reflections and waves
Enable water features
Open the shader settings menu and navigate to the water section. Ensure that water reflections and wave simulation are enabled. These features are typically active in mid-to-high quality presets but may be disabled on lower settings.
Adjust reflection quality
Within the water settings, you'll find options to control reflection detail:
- Increase reflection resolution for sharper, more detailed reflections of the sky and terrain
- Enable real-time reflections to see dynamic changes as you move
- Adjust reflection distance to control how far reflections render
Configure wave intensity
Locate the wave simulation slider. Higher values create more pronounced, animated waves that move naturally with the water surface. Lower values create calmer, subtler wave patterns.
Test in different environments
Visit oceans, rivers, and lakes to see how your settings look. Reflections work best when there's varied terrain and sky to reflect. Check both daytime and night conditions, as moonlight and stars also reflect on water surfaces when enabled.
