Enable and configure volumetric lighting and fog effects
Locate volumetric settings
Open the shader menu and search for volumetric fog, light rays, or atmospheric effects sections. These features create visible light beams and atmospheric depth, especially noticeable in forests and near light sources.
Adjust volumetric fog density
Increase fog density to create a thicker, more atmospheric haze that fills valleys and enclosed areas. Decrease it for clearer visibility and a lighter feel. Higher densities impact performance more significantly.
Configure light ray intensity
Volumetric light rays—visible shafts of light passing through trees and openings—can be adjusted for:
- Ray brightness and visibility
- How far rays extend from their source
- Ray quality and smoothness
Test in varied lighting
Volumetric effects are most visible:
- In dense forests with sunlight filtering through canopies
- During sunrise and sunset when light angles are low
- In caves with torches or other light sources
- Near water with reflective surfaces
Visit these locations after adjusting settings to see the full impact. If performance drops, reduce volumetric quality or disable the feature on lower-end presets.
