Finding and Mining Ores Efficiently in Your Single Chunk
Locate Your Ore Deposits Early
Before you start mining randomly, explore your chunk at ground level to map out where caves and exposed stone appear. Mark promising spots with torches so you can return to them. Ores spawn throughout the chunk just like normal Minecraft, but you have limited space, so every block counts.
Mine Strategically to Avoid Waste
Dig down in a controlled pattern—either a staircase or a spiral—rather than tunneling randomly. This prevents you from accidentally breaking through to the void at your chunk's edge. Mine ores you need immediately (iron, coal, diamonds) but leave stone and dirt in place when possible; you'll need these blocks for building and crafting later.
Preserve Your Mining Space
Since you can't expand outward, create a vertical mine shaft down the center of your chunk. This gives you access to multiple ore levels without consuming too much horizontal space. Keep one column clear for a ladder or water bucket for safe descent and ascent. Never dig all the way to bedrock in one spot—you need the remaining blocks for construction and resource gathering.
