Creating a Mob Farm or Food Source in Limited Space
Choose Between Mob Farming and Crop Farming
Space is your constraint, so pick one primary food/resource source. A compact mob grinder (for drops like bones and gunpowder) requires dark spawning space and a kill chamber. A crop farm needs water, soil, and light but produces renewable food. Decide based on what you need most urgently.
Build a Compact Mob Spawner
If farming mobs, create a dark chamber one block high with water channels funneling mobs to a central drop point. Use the height above your base for the spawning area. This keeps the footprint small while generating drops. Ensure mobs can't escape into your living space.
Optimize Crop Farming
For food, use a 4×4 tilled soil plot with water in the center. This hydrates all soil blocks efficiently. Plant wheat, carrots, or potatoes. Surround it with torches to prevent mob spawning. Harvest and replant regularly. If you need both food and mob drops, alternate between small plots and a tiny mob chamber, or stack them vertically to use your chunk's full height.
