Building a Functional Base in 16×16 Blocks

Plan Your Layout Before Building

With only 256 blocks of space, every placement matters. Sketch a mental map: designate one corner for crafting and smelting, another for storage, and a third for sleeping. Keep pathways narrow (one block wide) to save space. Consider building vertically—stack your workstations on top of each other using multiple levels.

Use Multipurpose Structures

Combine functions where possible. A single room can hold your furnace, crafting table, and storage chests if arranged compactly. Use wall-mounted storage (like item frames or hanging chains) to keep the floor clear. Avoid decorative builds; every block should serve a survival purpose.

Leave Room for Expansion

Don't fill your entire chunk immediately. You'll need space to farm crops, breed animals, or create mob farms later. Reserve at least one quarter of your chunk for future needs. Keep your base organized so you can quickly access tools and materials when preparing for the End dimension.
