How to Transform Skeletons into Wither Skeletons

Apply the Wither Effect

To trigger the transformation, you need to apply the wither potion effect to regular skeletons. This works just like other environmental transformations in Minecraft—skeletons in powder snow become strays, and now skeletons with wither effect become wither skeletons.

Methods to Apply Wither Effect

Potions: Brew or obtain wither potions and splash them on skeletons. You can throw splash potions or use a cauldron to apply the effect in an area.

Wither Damage: When the Wither boss damages skeletons, they may receive the wither effect and transform. This creates dynamic encounters where the Wither inadvertently creates stronger skeleton variants.

Commands: Use /effect give commands to apply the effect to specific skeletons for testing or controlled scenarios.

What Happens After Transformation

Once a skeleton is affected by wither, it will visibly change into a wither skeleton. The transformed mob retains wither skeleton behavior and drops, making them a more dangerous opponent. This transformation is immediate and irreversible while the effect is active.
