Creating a Controlled Wither Skeleton Farm

Design Considerations

You can create a farm that intentionally transforms skeletons into wither skeletons for drops and experience. This requires a reliable way to apply and maintain the wither effect on spawned skeletons.

Setup Steps

Skeleton Spawner or Grinder: Start with a standard skeleton farm or grinder that collects skeletons in a central area.

Wither Effect Application: Use a mechanism to apply wither potions repeatedly. Splash potion dispensers triggered by redstone can apply the effect to mobs in a confined space. Alternatively, position a Wither boss nearby so its attacks apply the effect naturally.

Collection System: Once transformed, wither skeletons will drop their unique loot (wither skeleton skulls, coal, bones). Use hoppers and chests to collect these drops.

Efficiency Notes

Keep the farm in a confined space to ensure all skeletons receive the wither effect. The transformation happens instantly, so you only need to apply the effect once per skeleton. Be cautious of the Wither's explosive attacks if using it as your effect source.
