Configure Lighting and Shadows for Your Preferred Look

Access Lighting Options

In the shader settings, find controls for global lighting, shadow intensity, and ambient light levels. These are core to Wisp's visual identity.

Adjust Shadow Behavior

  • Shadow strength: Increase for more dramatic, defined shadows; decrease for softer, gentler lighting
  • Shadow color: Some shaders let you tint shadows slightly blue or warm—experiment to match your preferred mood
  • Ambient brightness: This controls how bright unlit areas are; higher values make caves and interiors less dark

Fine-Tune the Overall Mood

Wisp aims for a "soft fantasy feel," so avoid extreme contrast. Test your settings at different times of day (use /time set) and in various environments—caves, forests, and open plains all respond differently to lighting changes. The goal is a world that feels fresh and inviting while maintaining visibility and the classic Minecraft look. Adjust gradually rather than making large jumps.
