Adjust Wisp Shaders for Your Computer's Performance

Check Your Current Frame Rate

Load into a world and open the shader settings menu (usually accessed via the shader options screen). Note your current FPS in an area with varied lighting—both indoors and outdoors. This baseline helps you decide which adjustments to make.

Reduce Visual Quality for Better Performance

If you're experiencing frame drops, look for settings related to:

  • Shadow quality or distance: Lower shadow render distance reduces the area the shader must calculate lighting for
  • Light updates: Disabling real-time light propagation effects can free up processing power
  • Ambient occlusion or contact shadows: These add depth but cost performance; toggle them off if needed
  • Reflection or water effects: Simplifying water rendering is often the fastest way to gain frames

Test and Refine

After each adjustment, spend a few minutes exploring different biomes and lighting conditions. Watch for stuttering or lag spikes. Make one change at a time so you know which setting actually helps. On very low-end systems, you may need to disable most optional effects and rely on Wisp's core lighting improvements alone.
