Adjust Mod Performance for Your System
Reduce Particle Load
If you experience lag or frame drops, the /worldalive settings menu lets you lower particle density. Reducing the number of spawning creatures and ambient effects directly improves performance without removing the mod entirely.
Disable Specific Features
Not all players want every ambient feature active. Selectively disable:
- Distant ambience (mirages, ocean boats, riders) – these render at range and can impact performance
- Cicada sounds and particles – audio processing adds overhead
- Butterfly swarms – these spawn frequently in biomes with flowers
Disabling features you don't enjoy also frees up resources.
Client-Side Advantage
Since Wildwood Echoes runs entirely on your client, server performance is never affected. You can adjust settings without impacting other players, making it ideal for multiplayer servers where you want personal customization.
Monitor and Optimize
Test different settings combinations and monitor your FPS. Start with lower particle counts and gradually increase until you find a balance between visual richness and smooth gameplay.
