How to Zoom Smoothly and Adjust Magnification with the Mouse Wheel

WI Zoom is built around a hold-and-scroll interaction. You hold the zoom key and the camera pulls in; while still holding it, you scroll the mouse wheel to change how far in you are. This is what gives you the smooth, stepless magnification instead of a single fixed zoom level.

Steps

1. Look at the distant object you want to inspect.

2. Press and hold the zoom key (default V). The view begins zooming.

3. While still holding the key, scroll the mouse wheel up to increase magnification and scroll down to decrease it.

4. Release the key to snap back to your normal field of view.

5. To fine-tune, scroll in small increments — the mod interpolates between levels, so you can stop at any point rather than jumping between fixed steps.

Getting a Stable Image

• Move the mouse slowly while zoomed. High magnification amplifies every small movement.
• Stand still if possible; walking while zoomed makes the target drift out of frame quickly.
• The mod is designed to avoid the wobbly camera sway some other zoom mods produce, so if the image feels shaky, it is usually your own mouse input rather than the mod.

Practical Uses

Scouting terrain before travelling, reading distant signs, spotting mobs at night, and checking builds from far away without crafting a spyglass.
