Ensure Automatic Platform Detection Works
How Automatic Detection Works
WayGL Mod checks your system environment when Minecraft launches. It detects whether you're running a Wayland compositor (like GNOME 40+, KDE Plasma 5.24+, or Sway) and automatically switches the LWJGL platform layer accordingly.
What Happens Behind the Scenes
You don't need to edit configuration files or set environment variables. The mod reads your display server information during startup and configures itself. If Wayland is detected, it forces native Wayland mode. If X11 is detected, it uses appropriate X11 settings.
Verify Detection Succeeded
Launch the game and check:
- Does the window appear immediately without flickering?
- Is your taskbar icon displaying correctly?
- Do mouse and keyboard inputs feel responsive?
If all three are true, automatic detection worked correctly. The mod is now running in the optimal mode for your system.
If you switch between Wayland and X11 sessions, the mod re-detects your environment each time you launch the game.
