Playing YouTube Audio Through WaterMedia Speakers
Set Up the Output
WaterMedia can drive audio as well as visuals. Place the speaker or audio output block that WaterMedia provides, then open its interface the same way you would for a screen. The YouTube plugin does not change how audio works — it only makes YouTube URLs resolvable — so any step that works for a direct audio link also works here.
Use a YouTube Link
Paste a YouTube watch URL into the audio source field. Music videos, lyric videos, and plain audio uploads all resolve the same way. The plugin extracts the stream and WaterMedia routes the sound to the speaker.
Tips for Reliable Audio
- Prefer videos with a stable, public availability; livestreams and premieres can behave differently from normal uploads.
- Keep volume reasonable — WaterMedia audio can carry across a large area, so test the range before wiring it into a build.
- If audio plays but video does not (or vice versa) on a combined setup, test each output separately to find which one is misconfigured.
- On servers, remember the host machine needs internet access for extraction, exactly as with video playback.
Once audio works, you can sync multiple speakers to the same source for a room-filling setup.
