How to Achieve Time Attack Goals
Understanding Time Attack Objectives
Water Speed Map includes built-in time targets for completion. These goals push you to optimize your route, perfect your jumps, and maintain consistent momentum. Each environment section has its own timing benchmark.
Optimization Techniques
Route efficiency: Choose the fastest path through each section—this isn't always the easiest. Aggressive routes with well-placed wind charge pads often yield better times than safer alternatives.
Momentum preservation: Never stop moving. Maintain sprint between jumps, land cleanly to avoid stumbling, and use slopes and descents to build speed rather than slow down.
Jump precision: Tight, consistent jumps are faster than overshooting. Practice landing at the edge of platforms to minimize distance traveled.
Practice Approach
Start by completing a full run without time pressure to establish a baseline. Review your performance: where did you hesitate? Which sections felt slow? Return to those areas and practice the jumps repeatedly.
Incremental improvement: Shave seconds off each section, then combine optimized segments into a full run. Watch for momentum loss at checkpoints and transitions—these are common time-wasters.
