Reduce Lag and Improve Performance
Lower Liquid Detail Settings
Access your shader configuration menu and find options for wave complexity or ripple detail. Reduce these values to decrease the number of calculations needed for water movement. Fewer ripples mean less strain on your GPU.
Disable or Reduce Reflection Quality
Look for reflection resolution or reflection distance settings. Lowering these values reduces how far reflections render and at what quality, significantly improving frame rates without removing the feature entirely.
Adjust Render Distance for Water
Some shader packs allow you to set a separate render distance specifically for water effects. Reducing this means detailed water effects only appear close to your character, with simpler water rendering at distance.
Monitor Performance
Use your F3 debug screen to watch frame rates as you make changes. Test in different environments—oceans demand more resources than small ponds. If performance is still poor, consider using a lighter shader alternative or ensuring your graphics drivers are up to date.
