How to Use the Despawn Button Safely on a Server

Who Can Despawn Traders

On a multiplayer server, the despawn button in the trader's GUI is available to whoever opens the trade screen. That means any player with access to the trader can make it vanish. If you're running a server, be aware that this can be used by anyone, so consider whether that fits your server's rules. There's no built-in permission gate mentioned for the button itself.

Coordinating with Other Players

Because despawning is instant and permanent, communicate before clicking. If another player was planning to trade with that trader, despawning it removes the opportunity. A quick message in chat before using the button avoids conflict. On busy servers, traders are a shared resource, so treat the button as a group decision rather than a personal one.

Llamas and Leftovers

If llama despawning is disabled in the server config, despawning a trader leaves its llamas wandering. On a server this can lead to loose llamas accumulating near spawn or trade hubs. Either enable llama despawning in the config or have a plan for removing leftover llamas.

Using the Spawn Command

The /wandering-trader spawn command requires cheats or operator status. On a server, only ops can typically run it. If you despawn a trader by mistake, ask an operator to respawn one rather than waiting for a random spawn.
