How to Find and Trade with a Wandering Trader

Locating the Wandering Trader

Wandering Traders spawn randomly in your world at regular intervals. They typically appear within a few hundred blocks of your current location. Listen for their distinctive sounds or watch for their llama companions—they're usually accompanied by two leashed llamas.

Opening the Trade Menu

Once you've spotted a Wandering Trader, approach them and right-click to open their trade interface. You'll see their available items organized by category. The trader will display both items they're willing to buy from you and items they're selling.

Making Your First Trade

Have emeralds ready in your inventory. Click on any item you want to purchase—the interface will show the emerald cost. Confirm the trade and the item will move to your inventory. Remember that rare items like diamonds and enchanted books have limited stock, so popular trades may sell out quickly if multiple players are trading with the same merchant.

Selling Items for Emeralds

You can also sell basic supplies and copper tools back to the trader to earn emeralds for future purchases. This is useful for converting excess gear into currency.
