WalksyLib Mod: Creating Config Options for Mod Developers

Building Configuration Options with WalksyLib

WalksyLib is a library mod aimed at developers rather than players. Its purpose is to give mod authors a builder-based way to define and manage configuration options, so configs are structured consistently instead of hand-rolled per mod.

The core workflow is the builder: you declare an option through the builder API rather than writing serialization logic yourself. WalksyLib then handles serialization and deserialization of that config data, keeping saved values and loaded values in sync.

Option types cover the usual ground — boolean, numeric, string, and enum options — plus more advanced entries. Advanced types include color selection and sprite or texture input, which suit mods that need visual settings rather than plain values. A pixel grid editor is also included for custom pixel art and animated visuals, letting such content be defined through the config system.

If you are a player, this mod does nothing on its own; it only becomes relevant when another mod depends on it.
