Switch Your Shader Pack to Run on Vulkan
Enable Vulkan Rendering
The Vulkanic Light Engine Mod translates OptiFine shader packs to run on Vulkan instead of OpenGL. To switch your shaders over:
1. Open Video Settings from the main menu
2. Look for the Prefer Vulkan (Experimental) option and enable it
3. Restart the game — Minecraft must reboot to switch to the Vulkan backend
4. Once restarted, place your shader pack zip files into your shaderpacks folder as normal
5. Return to Video Settings and select your shader pack from the list
Verify It's Working
After restart, you should see visual changes immediately — volumetric lighting, fog effects, and water reflections will render through Vulkan. If the game doesn't look different, double-check that Vulkan is enabled in Video Settings and that your shader pack is actually selected.
The mod automatically translates your shader code at startup, so no manual conversion is needed. Popular packs like Complementary Unbound, BSL, and Bliss Shaders are confirmed compatible.
