Configure Chat Filters and Block Unwanted Words

Access Filter Settings

Super administrators can customize word filtering through the configuration file. Open your plugin's configuration and locate the text filter section to manage which words are restricted in public channels.

Set Up Word Blocking

Create custom filter lists that either:

  • Block: Prevent messages containing forbidden words from posting
  • Mask: Replace forbidden words with symbols or asterisks
  • Replace: Substitute forbidden words with approved alternatives

Add words or phrases to your filter list one per line. Filters apply to all public chat channels automatically.

Apply Filters Across Channels

Word filters work on public channels and group chats. Private direct messages can be audited separately if your administrator enables direct-message: admin-audit in the configuration, allowing moderation review without filtering the messages themselves.

Test Your Filters

After updating the configuration, restart the plugin to apply changes. Test by posting a message containing a filtered word to confirm the block, mask, or replacement works as expected.
