How to Get the Classic Void Fog Effect at Low Y-Levels
The whole point of this mod is bringing back the creeping darkness that used to swallow you as you dug toward bedrock. If you're not seeing it, the effect is tied to your depth, not to a toggle you flip in a menu.
Triggering the Fog
Descend below the surface. The fog thickens gradually as your Y-level drops, so you won't get a hard cutoff — it fades in the deeper you go. Dig a shaft straight down or explore a deep cave system and watch the horizon close in. The effect is strongest near the bottom of the world, where distant blocks become unreadable and your view distance effectively shrinks.
Making It Readable
Because the fog hides terrain, bring light. Place torches or glowstone as you descend so you can still navigate. If you want to *see* the fog rather than fight it, stand still in a large open cavern at depth and look across it — the gradient is most obvious over long sightlines. In tight tunnels the fog is subtle because there's little distance to obscure.
If the fog feels absent, you're probably not deep enough yet; keep descending until the world darkens around you.
