Fixing Void Fog Not Appearing After You Install the Mod
You installed it, you dug deep, and… nothing. Here's how to troubleshoot the most common reasons the fog doesn't show.
Confirm You're Actually Deep Enough
The single most common cause is depth. The fog only kicks in at low Y-levels, so a cave at mid-height won't trigger it. Dig down toward the bottom of the world and check again. If you're in a dimension or biome where you can't go that low, you won't see the effect.
Check for Conflicts
Other mods that overhaul rendering, fog, or world generation can override or suppress this one. If you run a shader pack or a graphics overhaul, its fog settings may be replacing the mod's. Try disabling shaders or the conflicting mod and re-testing in a fresh deep area.
Verify the Mod Is Loaded
Make sure the mod actually loaded for your game version and mod loader — a mismatched loader means it silently does nothing. Check your mod list in-game or the log file for load errors.
Rule Out Settings
If a config file exists, confirm fog isn't disabled or its start depth set unreachably low. Reset it to defaults and test again before assuming the mod is broken.
