Optimize Performance on Low-End Hardware
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Check your frame rate in different environments. Open the shader settings and note which options are enabled. Vivid Lucid Shadows is designed for integrated graphics, but optimization may still be needed on very low-end systems.
Disable or Reduce Visual Features
- Turn off or reduce sun ray intensity if frame rate suffers
- Lower shadow distance to render shadows only near the player
- Reduce shadow softness to decrease blur calculations
- Disable ambient occlusion or contact shadows if available
Adjust Render Distance
Reduce your in-game render distance setting (not shader-specific). This has a major impact on overall performance and works alongside shader optimization.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 debug screen to watch FPS while making changes. Test in various biomes and times of day, as lighting complexity varies. Make incremental adjustments rather than disabling everything at once—you may find a good balance between visuals and performance.
Verify Stability
Play for several minutes after each adjustment to ensure consistent frame rates during normal gameplay.
